Hi bigsarge, It is possible, but unless you have some serious experience working on vehicles I wouldn't recommend that you do it yourself. Contact a trusted professional and find out how much it would be to have them do it. You'll probably even get some sort of warranty out of the deal. Good luck!

thats a sound suggestion. i know the Z/28 came with a four speed and 350 motor around that year, find one of those and use it for a donor car, possibly buy the entire car so you get everything you need. its gonna be alot of work though, different steering column(possibly), front seats maybe, lots of wiring, mechanacle stuff to get at in hard to reach places, patience, and money. i read an article about a guy who wanted to convert a 2 wheel drive ford f-150 into a 4 wheel drive, in the end it would cost less and get better results to sell the existing vehicle and buy the one he/they wanted to create. you might be looking at a similar situation.
I have a 1979 z28 that I work on all the time and it came w/ a 4 speed borg warner t10. they sell them on ebay, for old camaros and chevelles so you could probably find the right trans there. You'll need to do some serious modding, cutting thru the firewall, replacing the flex plate, possibly fabricating a new cross member support, etc. I'd be a good project, but a handful. best of luck sir!

true, and you'r probably gonna need the entire pedal(s) assembly, i don't think GM just added the clutch pedal to the auto equipped ones. this definetaly isn't a week-end job.
