79 Camaro turn signal Socket

Asked by 79Camaro_BrianB Feb 24, 2016 at 04:07 PM about the 1979 Chevrolet Camaro

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

79 Camaro base rear turn signal socket has only 2 wires going to it a
ground and a hot, the socket has only one contact (both R and L turn
signals)in the lower section of a socket.  It looks like it "could" have 2
contacts-but there is not another wire in the harness for it. I have the
1157A bulbs but they have 2 contact points and as I stated the socket only
has 1 and it not in the middle but the lower half.

Thank you for the quick replies. I am still not able to get it to work.I am sure I am missing something. I have a new turn signal components into the steering column but nothing. The fuse is good. The break lights are working not sure how to check the wiring.

If you get a 12V test light one end is hooked to a ground, the probe end is for checking live wires. A little light would come on telling you there is a circuit. So you need to know if there is power getting back there or not. Could be corrosion in the plugin for the wiring, or it could be a bad socket.
