My generator warning light went on, but did not come on again once the car was restarted. What should I do?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed that my generator warning light stayed on after I started my car this morning.  I
drove it to a store, shut it off and then restarted it about 15 min. later and the generator
warning light did not stay on.  Is it possible that this is means something other than a
generator problem?  I am headed out of town and need to make a decision about whether
or not to take this car.

hard to call..take it if your worried to/for a quick battery/starter/alt. check..

The most likely culprit for this is the alternator has the voltage regulator brushes worn out. Often enough you need to replace the whole alternator like i did since my whole inner core rusted out and started rubbing the walls. Have the alternator checked if its stock parts im willing to bet its worn out.
