Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 f150 with the 5.4 triton now i know the spark
plugs can be a bitch but i my self am a johndeere mechanic
and I have never seen or heard of this one. I want to pull my
plugs but there is a washer that sits around my spark plug
and keeping me from getting on the hex head of the plug
has any one ever come across this????

I think you have the wrong sized socket. You need a 9/16 spark plug socket. You should also get a broken plug removal kit for Tritons before proceeding and you should also use penetrating oil the night before on all the plugs.

Being a Ford tech they are a bitch!!! It is a 9/16 and I have found do not just hurry and remove the plugs! Break them loose and use some penetrating spray (PB Blaster) in the holes and let sit for about 1/2 hr and try to tighten them a little and work them in and out. If u start hearing any creeping noises stop and spray lube again and re tighten. If u break one make sure u get ALL of it out and do as the directions say or your going to have to pull the head. Hope this helps! Good luck!

That looks like the boot ripped off when you removed it. Do all the plugs look like that? You'll need a pick tool or something that you can get down in there with to remove it.Then you can use your socket to remove the spark plug as others have described. Hope that helps! Jim
