Air conditioner in 06 Ford Explorer makes loud noise

The air conditioner and heater in my 06 Explorer makes an extremely  loud and very obnoxious noise.  It does not work on 1 or 2, but will work on 3 or 4 with the extremely loud and very obnoxious noise.  Any ideas or suggestions on what this might be?  Thanks!

You may have debris stuck in your blower motor. Also if your blower does not work on 1 or 2 you could have a bad blower motor resistor.
