Question type: Maintenance & Repair
my 2007 air conditioning cuts in and out as it does this the air recirculation goes from inside air (A/C on) to outside air * then A/C off). A/C pressure checks out O.K by gauge for tool to add canned Freon any Ideas could use help?

ususally gm a/c light will flash and change when there is a fault in the a/c system. could just be a fuse. something is not allowing the compressor to cycle on. also newer vehicles are very sensitive to the amount of refridgerant in the system within a .20 of an ounce. if its not correct it won't cycle the compressor on
Tthe a/c will cycle on for 1-30 seconds sometimes long enough to blow cold air but then shuts off switches to outside air and repeats I learned cars on old jeeps none of them did I deal with a/c. I don't know if this helps
#roy to check compressor do l supply it with 12volts to see what happens or check supply volts and is thermostst valve same as presure valve?
if its blowing cold air sometimes then you must have power at the compressor sometimes. it sounds like a high pressure switch is opening probably because the pressure in the system is getting to high. you could have a restriction somewhere like in a line or in the condenser. there are are two main types of a/c systems but both use a a restriction before the evaporator to control the pressure in the system it might be stuck. look for any frost around the a.c lines that usually indicates a restriction. if not i have another way of finding out if its an electrical issue but that involves pulling the a.c relay and jumping pins which can be dangerous and you could short out the computer
see it can happen because there is not enough freon........u put in freon today but if there is leak tomorrow the pressure wont be same........when it is blowing is it blowing cold enough air........if u wanna fix without going to a garage replace thermostat sensor and the cutout of the fan of the radiator........you can do so by replacing them one by one.........2nd what about the temperature of the car when it switches off?
Monitor your fan activity when the AC shuts off.. Also... Are you in motion when the AC fails? Im a 2010 impala owner and have known my cooling fans to be on their way out... And when i have the AC on.. The cooling fans (for the radiator / condenser) kick on too.. My fans have failed and now my vehicle will not let the AC cycle on when the vehicle doesnt have fans running. Check fan relays, fuses, if your freon is charged. It is undoubtedly an electrical fault somewhere... You COULD have a toasted compressor but it is not likely. My car sat for a year and only needed a recharge to work. So there are many subjective factors to account for. Definitely investigate your fans functionality... I know that to be a prominent issue with this generation of impala.
My air conditioner works every time I hit a pot hole it cuts it off
On the driver side of the engine bay just underneath the air filter is a sensor called an ac refrigerant pressure sensor. My understanding is that this switch kicks the clutch out when optimal pressure is reached versus it not working and the pressure going out of the safety relief valve. Here is the part. It's a $30 part that could be your saving grace. Best wishes. https://www.carid.com/acdelco/gm-original-equipment- a-c-refrigerant-pressure-sensor-mpn-15-51343.html? singleid=1450254147&url=608684
Mine does the same but only when it’s really hot outside. Like 100+
GuruHG44Y did this issue ever get solved? mine just started doing the same thing. 2007 Chevy Impala
