Code 0404

Asked by GuruFH8G May 15, 2017 at 11:14 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced oxygen sensors to get
rid of code 0420. That corrected that
problem for about 3 weeks. I am now
getting code 0404. Could this still be a
catylitic converter problem?

P0404 CHEVROLET - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Open Position Performance...Possible causes: EGR volume control valve stuck open or closed, Faulty EGR volume control solenoid valve, EGR volume control solenoid valve harness is open or shorted, EGR volume control solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection, EGR temperature sensor and circuit...The code detected when the PCM calculates an error based on the difference between the actual EGR position and the desired EGR position. The PCM sets the P0404 code if the error is too great.
