i have a 1985 bronco ii and when i start it it makes a grinding noise just when i go to start it. when it runs it is fine. We pulled the starter and checked the flywheel and you can see where it is nicked but im not missing any teeth. the starter had shavings in it. Replaced the starter once it was fine for the first couple starts then sttarted grinding again. any sugjestions?

Did you try to shim it?

we are going to try it tomorrow. we are trying to figure out multiple suggestions and try them till someting works

when i bought the vehicle it was fine. then the starter started acting up the just up and quit. rolled it off and when got home changed the starter that night it was fine for the first couple starts thendoes it again. we took it off today in the shop and put it back n thinking i may have out it in at a angle and lowered the lift and turned it iver and still did it so we are going to shim it tomorrow and if that dont work then i have no idea what will do.
