Steering wheel shake.

Asked by Ray1066 Mar 18, 2016 at 03:37 AM about the 2006 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive a Honda Civic.
Hi there, I'm new here. Reason being is my late dad always knew the answers. But I'm
a driver. I was told I need new brake discs
on last MOT. My front 2 tyres keep wearing
away which I understand to be the tracking
in certain. But when I shoot off from a
static position, I hear a slight click from the
front right side. But not that noise is
constant when I set off or go over a speed
bump. Could that be a loose bolt on the
wishbone? Going back to the steering
wheel, my gearbox sounds like I need a
new one. Tho I was told by a few so called
experts, it's 100% the thrust Barings.
Could that be what's causing my wheel
too, at any speed to turn left to right
slightly. The faster I go the quicker it
moves.

A shake or shimmy could be a misalignment, bad or worn out shocks or faulty steering components or even a bad wheel balance.. Wheel weights, if not secured properly, can fall off resulting in a shimmy etc. Check all of the above suggestions at a local tire alignment shop or dealership.
