Overheat

Asked by gbmpython Nov 20, 2016 at 08:43 PM about the 2006 Honda Accord

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2006 Honda Accord.....drive it for about 10 miles and then temp
gauge shows overheating....pulled over...had a small amount of smoke from
left side of engine but coolant did not go low and engine did not seem to be
overheating itself otherwise.  Car would not restart but fans ran and I tried
again after 30 min and then it was able to start and I drove it back
home...again showing hot as I approached 10 miles covered. Car has been
sitting about a month and is in mountains of Colorado.  Nearest dealer about
100 miles away.

Thermostat is stuck closed. Replace thermostat. If you're far from auto store, temporary remove thermostat so you can drive up to the store without overheating it
