Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I live in NYC and had to have my 2006 Honda Accord inspected using an emissions test.  I had battery changed just beforehand and put approx. 30 miles onto it before inspection computer hook-up.  It failed because:  Emissions Results - Readiness Fail, Monitor Catalyst - Not Ready, Monitor Catalyst - Not Ready, Monitor EVAP - Not Ready, Monitor 02 - Not Ready and Monitor EGR - Not Ready.  Mechanic told me when new battery was put in it "wiped out" ability to test.  He stated I should drive the Accord 50 - 60 miles and retest in order for battery to kick in for test.  Is this common to happen?  Previous years the Accord always passed inspection the only difference now is new battery.  I welcome and thank you in advance for any responses to this situation.

he gave you accurate advice, drive it around and have at least 3/4 tank of gas to help reset the evap monitor. Before you go for re- inspection, have it scanned (autozone?) you are allowed one unset monitor

You wiped out the codes if any when you changed the battery. The computer takes a certain number of miles to run through a diagnostic cycle and until it does it will show Not Ready. Drive the car for a while and then take it back.

Thank you very much. Battery was purchased at Autozone a Duralast Gold Battery this past Saturday. The code for radio had to re-entered to play. I am going to drive the Accord on Monday one way for 90 miles which hopefully will force the diagnostic cycle to finish. I appreciate all your help. It makes sense to me now what happened. Will try to post an answer of how things turned out!
