How can you access and replace the microswitch on the stick shift

Asked by hibeam Dec 20, 2006 at 09:55 AM about the 1992 Audi 100

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car is not starting apparently because the microswitch on the shifter stick is not engaging, In order to start you have to move the shifter around and try to make contact. The problem has resulted in the battery being run down trying  to start the car

Hello The wiring in this vicinity is fairly complex. I would highly recommend handing this one off to a mechanic, as the lose wires may already have done additional damage that it would be wise to have checked out. Best of luck! CarGrrl

You may be able to replace the entire stick shift (as supplied by the dealer) and hook up the electronics via a wiring harness.
