I have a 1992 Audi 100 s there is no dip stick for the tranny how do I check the fluid level?

You jack the car up and remove a plug on the side of the transmission. The fluid should be up to the bottom of the hole.

Has to be checked at temperature, best leave it to a transmission shop or the dealer. The reason they eliminated the dipstick is to keep owners from adding incorrect AT or fluid levels.

drained the tranny, wanted to verify trans anyway. dropped the pan only to find zero fluid. Called the previous owner to find he must be brain dead, he never checked fluid. I verified it was a auto 4 speed Getrag. Put in new filter and gasket, JB welded the filler tube. Created a dip stick from a universal dipstick. Filled it with cheap ford mercon at operating temp. cleaned the shift selector unit. To my surprise the Getrag tranny came back to life after 2 years without fluid.
