Tempermental AWD

Asked by Dmatthe4 Aug 28, 2007 at 10:37 PM about the 1998 Honda CR-V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was concerned over the automatic AWD feature and issues around tires and tire pressure or replacement tires.

With Audi's Subaru's and other 'AWD' smart systems, if you are 1 or 2 years into a set of tires and you get a flat, some shops insist that you replace all 4 to keep the exact same rolling radius and don't invoke the AWD because one or more tires is slightly different in overall dia.

I have steered away from Subaru's and the like for the reason that I don't want to shell our $450+ every time I blow 1 tire.

Is the CR-V the same?

Hi Dmatthe4, I would caution anyone purchasing a vehicle with AWD for just this reason. I've not found a vehicle with AWD that didn't have the problem you describe. Good luck!
