What does an automatic 2003 S10, 4.3 6cyl ext. cab, get for average gas mileage? How does it compare to the same in a 5spd? I'm having a hard time finding a 5spd!

Here you go: www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/18839.shtml
i get anywhere from 22 to 26 on the interstate in city tho it sucks but i dont have a ext cab and i did the stock air box mod and have a flowmaster 40 fixin to go to a blazer y pipe and do the throttle body mod to good place to go is http://www.s10forum.com/ and spend about month reading thro the fourms u will learn so much
The best I documented on the highway was 24.5 mpg for a tank of gas. I filled up in Des Moines, slowly got on the interstate, set the cruise at 65, got off in Omaha, filled up again, and measured that 24.5. That was stock except for a tonneau cover over the bed. It could get a little better with the K&N intake I added since then, but I'm doing all city driving now, so I don't even want to know what the number is. Too depressing. BTW, mine is a regular cab V6 automatic Xtreme
you can use a t-5 tran because 4.3 v6 is a 350 without 2 cylenders so any auto or 5spd from a 350 chevy or small block will bolt up . you should just put the 350 in with the trany to cuz its funner
I own a 1991 4.3 5 speed and its not that great I only get about 275 miles to a tank combined city highway. Mine is the extended cab 4x4, with low gearing for towing
I have a 2002 S10 Reg cab with a 4.3 and a 5spd I have moded the 6cyl with JBA headers, throtle body spacer,40 series flowmaster muffler, reprogamed computer both for reg gas and premium gas, AEM cold air intake and a moded mass air sensor. And I only get 23 mpg stock I only got around 19 to 21mpg
generally a standard will get better gas milage, depending on how you drive, and for the 4.3 S10, I can get around19-22 miles to the gallon
2003 CHEVY S10 XTREME OWNER. SINGLE CAB, 4.3L VORTEC, 5 SPEED 113K MILES, STANDARD ZQ8 SUSPENSION. QUICK. AND AVERAGES 21MPG COMBINED. I HAVNT DONE A LONG DRIVE YET BUT 24-25MPG HWY SOUNDS RIGHT.
