S10 security and locked door

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 S10 interior lights come on when lifting a locked door handle.  It also
has been draining my battery to where it won't start.  I charged the battery
and if I don't lock it, then everything is fine, but if I lock it, then it some how
drains the battery.  Is there some sort of connection for the security in the
door latch or handle??

Is lifting the handle triggering the door ajar switch? There's nothing wired to the handle itself. Google where your door ajar switch is located (either inside the door or in the door jamb), then play with that. If the switch is bad you can likely find a replacement in the salvage yard.
