Maximum Tire Size on 2000 2WD S10
Asked by CraigK13 Oct 08, 2009 at 07:33 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet S-10
Question type: Car Customization
I want to upgrade from the stock 205/75/15 tires on my S10.
Does anyone have experience with 235/75/15s
Basically I am worried about inner clearance on suspension components.
Not too worried about the 6% difference in diameter as I can live without a completely accurate speedo.
Thanks.

Hi i have a 1998 s10 and i upgraged to the 235/75/15s and over all they are a excellent tire only problem is when you turn really sharp it rubs just a little bit not much, but really you dont really turn that sharp when normal driving and also havent had a problem with inner clerance on the suspension, so if you want its a good choice since them are the biggest that fit on the S10
i have 235/75-15 bf goodrich all terrains on my 95 blazer and they have no issues at all, i have 235/70-15 general grabber at2 s on my 95 4x4 pick up and like tyler , i get a little rub with the full lock on a right turn like when pulling out of a parking space, but nothing on the left turn. i have them on the pick up for over a year and have rotated them and checked for wear and found nothing to speak of damage wise. you may want to check for speedometer error though, mine is off by 2 mph according to the gps. not a big deal unless you have some critical cops where you live
Is your 1998 a 2WD? If so, great answer. Thanks.
One more thing...stock rims?
I also have a 98 s-10. Do you see any problems with me putting on a LT215 75/R15 on stock rims?
a 215 70 15 is alot better i havnt tried 225 but 235 you will have problems turning sharp
I just put the 235/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler Territory's (Canadian Tire only model from Goodyear I believe) and they seem to drive just fine but indeed rub a bit at full turn. I will look later to see where and by how much. 215/75/15s should be no problem then.
I see no probelms they should work fine
Thanks everyone. I just put the "special order" in and I'll let everyone know how they fit in a week to ten days.
my neice has a chevy s10 2d. and she bought it with 215 75 14. and it started to shift funny. like it was going from 4 to 5 gear back and forth. like the truck wasnt sure what gear it needed to be in. We brought it to a transmission spec. and they said because of the wrong size,(stock is 205 75 15) its throwing off the computer that tells it when to shift. they said that they put her truck on a computer to diagnose the prob. people put different size tires on trucks all the time. any thoughts......
i have 225/70/15 on mine and the only rubbing i have is the driver side front tire rubbing on the frame when turning the steering wheel all the way to the right, all the other tires clear the frame and suspension components just fine.
i have 235 70 15 on mine
I have 255/60r15 on my 99 Blazer 2x4 with no rubbing issues nor top heavy feel when turning.
I have an 03 S10 2wd with 205/75R15 Americus Classics. Discount Tires say these are the wrong size. Ive seen 255/60R15 Cooper Cobras on a same type truck that I want but am told theyre too big.Its recommended a 235/70R15 is the original tire size.
I have a 2003 s10 4x2 LS with 205/75-15 on stock rims. Im told i can put a 255/60-15 as the biggest and widest tires.
I don't have any issues on my Blazer , now the ride got rougher and the handling got a lot better.I do have 15x8 wheels tho,
I have a 2003 Chevrolet s10 2wd..I plan to put on a 3 inch lift kit soon. What is the biggest size all terrain tire should I put on?

I have 265/75R/15,s in the rear, and 235/75R/15,s in front and it was good, but I need bigger in the rear, is there a way to do so ?

Your 2001 S-10 is this 2WD
I have an 01 s10 blazer. Had 215/70/15 before. Just put on 225/75/15 and my gas mileage went to hell. Those 225 I put on rear. And still have 215 on front. Y did my gas go that bad
I have a 97 S10 and I run 235/60/R15 on the front and up to 295/50R15s on the rear. YES it will have an effect on your ABS light and your spedometer. Yhe rear you can run what you want and it will also help if you run past the govenor at 92.5mph. I also have had some great highway gas mileage and use the Scan Guage with the OBD2 to keep track.
Have 2000 S/10 LS 2wd..bought used, has 235-75-15 Wranglers..they rub making tight turns, gas mileage sucks, and automatic transmission 4th and O/D constantly shift back and forth...in St.Augustine Fla...all 4 tires have 50% tread...anybody got 4. 205-75- 15 tires they wanna trade me ?
On the 235/75/15 I have 2 questions, do the fit on stock rims? And I hear theres a bit of rubbing with spacers fix that

I have a 2000 Chevy s10 an I put 30×9.5r15 on a stock set up I had to do 2 inch wheel spacers cause my tire was rubbing my sway bar where it meets the frame I still rubb on bumps an when I turn hard enough to shift the body weight it's a 2wd an it gave it a higher stance an gave a 4 inch wider foot print so the 235/75r15 is not much smaller so hopefully this helps
Hi guys I have a serious question. Can I for a short distance put a 16vin tire on my s10 when the rest are 15s? N short distance meaning oh say 15 miles? N if so should I put it on back or front? Thank you

The 16" wheel is what the spare is that you can put on and i ran it 82 miles no problem.
