18436572 , passenger side from front to rear 2468, drivers side1357. note this motor has known dist. problems. do you know if you have a cpi injector system , some call it a spider . these are also known problems. has anyone recently mest with plugs ,wires , dist cap or rotor? be glad to help just need more info
The vortec motor dist cap isn't lined up with the traditional 18436572. The order is numbered on the cap. It is the 2nd picture posted by fordnut. You can't check ingition timing with these engines unless you have a scan tool that reads camshaft retard.

yes sir the firing order is configured differnt on the vortec but the order in witch it fires is the same, and like i posted the dist is a known problem ,the gear that meshes with the cam , cam position sensor magnetic field . those dist caps are well known for carbon tracking and cross firing . note most after market caps dont work well. the scan tool is nessesary cam retard should read 0 + or - 2 deg. all scanners with bydirectional function will work
On my truck I have a 96 4 x 4 GMC and when I start off he kind of hesitated and backfires
