Whats a hid? I have heard of LED, is it a different style light for that body style? Is it like those euro tail lights?
HID's are "high intensity discharge" lights. The are very bright lights that come on newer cars.
Don't bother installing aftermarket hid's because they are not legal and simply scatter light blinding other drivers.
Installing hid's on any vehicle not equipped with them from the factory is illegal. Look it up. No true hid kits are DOT approved.
Ok yep I looked it up. Aftermarket kits are illegal. Oem assemblies are legal on the other hand.
Oem ones could possibly be be legal some states if the car could have had them installed from the factory as an option. Even if you use a oem headlight to replace the halogen lights it is still technically illegal.
I'm not sure I'll agree it's still technically illegal because I believe the only thing making aftermarket assemblies illegal is they lack some regulation the government has that oem assemblies would carry. I could be wrong though.
That are illegal due to the fact that hid's are so bright they need to be accurately aimed for the proper light cutoff so as reduce the risk or blinding other drivers. They utilize a higher power bulb in a housing made for a halogen bulb so they are not approved by the dot. They just throw a bunch of light out everywhere which blinds other drivers.
ok so keep the stock light jus clean the lenses and fer tail lights would i be able to change the lenses or no???
I suggest looking into what are called 9011/9012 HIR bulbs. They're otherwise standard bulbs that just need to have their bases slightly modified to fit the stock sockets. This website can tell you a bit about them: http://finemotoring.com/. Basically they're much higher output bulbs than any available 9005/9006 bulbs. They don't fake their brightness with tint like Silverstars and other popular "bright" bulbs do (although to the human eye those appear brighter/whiter, the tint is reducing the actual light output). As far as where to purchase them, eBay and other places tend to have pretty high prices. The prices on that Fine Motoring website don't look too bad, but the cheapest place I know of is Candlepower.com. Here's a direct link to their store: http://store.candlepower.com/numerical-listing-click-to-continue.html. They're just a bit above the very bottom of the page (listed in numerical order). They both run for $22.71 a bulb. Dirt cheap compared to any half-decent "HID" kit.
