Asked by Lorenzo Dec 29, 2016 at 01:04 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got reverse and 1 2 3 but no drive.
Sometime it will slip out of 3 and rpm
shoots up I have to manually put it in 1 2 3. I
have metal shavings in transfluid will all this
be fixed if I just replace the whole
transmission

If you replace the whole transmission the remaining transmission cooler lines and cooler must be flushed out to remove any metal that is in there. Putting metal back into a new transmission will cause problems.

Make sure if replacing the trans you get another 95 year model trans. It's a one off year and far as compatibility. The 96+ trans will bolt in and plug up but won't last long as the way solenoids are operated changed in 96
