is it the tbi motor (looks like older carb engine) or the cpi (has a cover over the top that says vortec)?

Cam position sensor in ur distributor. I just had this issue in my 96 s10 ls. I added a spacer to my crankshaft position sensor replaced the icm and coil. Had same issue. Check engine light said cam sensor. Swapped it out and boom smoother than ever. Its not the ICM cuz u had got spark. Take cap n rotor off blow around the cam sensor and check dist. Shaft for play horizontal and veritcal. There shouldnt be any if so get a new distributor

Sounds like a bad injector seal or its clogged or stuck opened sometimes you can tap on it wile you have a nine volt batt running to injector connector if its not making any sound tap with screw driver end it might open

sorry about that wrong topic but it MIGHT be your electronic ignition. My 1995 2.2.l s10 woud start up fine run for about 3mins or so then it would die id go to start would not start. let it sit for about an hour it would start up again and it would do the same thing i shot starter fluid into throttle body it would fire up and run as long as i kept priming it. I did just about everything but pull the electrical harness out i called dealer ship ask one of there mechs he said could be electronic ignition, replaced it and fired right up
