2005 Toyota Camry P2112 Code

Asked by EliseH Aug 27, 2016 at 03:57 PM about the 2005 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello! My 2005 Toyota Camry is majorly stalling
when I put the car in drive. My husband and I were
on our way home and were caught in a major
thunderstorm that flooded most of the roads in our
area. We did have to drive through water, as our
street was a little flooded. The car ran fine
afterwards, but about 2 days later, the car started
stalling every time that I would try to accelerate.
Managed to get it to Auto Zone to get the code. It's
P2112 Throttle Body stuck closed. The gentleman
behind the counter had mentioned the rain and
said that since we drove through water, just open
the hood to let the Throttle Body dry & that in a
couple of days, it should run normally again. Is this
a possibility?

a modern throttle body will enhouse a lot of electrikery so it is a high possibility that drying it out will cure the malfunctioning component, find a qualified technician prior to removing the malfunctioning throttle body as this needs specialist skills to remove

There may be a Toyota Service Bulletin which addresses this issue. More research required.
