I have a 2005 toyoto echo, the engine light came on and now can't pump gas without it shutting off

Since I'm unemployed and have to have a vehicle, is it possible to just disconnect the evap system until I get back on my feet??? Please help

No The first thing would be go to the dealer Toyota and buy a Toyota gas cap. Yours might be cracked some where. It is a good place to start. Then it takes about 15 cycles for the engine light to shut off.
