Car had to be jumped, then when.it started it wouldn't accelerate

2004 Toyota Highlander  wouldn't start, had to.jump it,
started but wouldn't accelerate and ideas?

do not jump 21st Century cars- when they fire up the two charging systems have a battle of currents and then fry delicate electrical/computer systems- there- that's my "idea"
