error message on screen

Asked by windpower Apr 04, 2008 at 11:41 AM about the 2002 Toyota Prius

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 prius and every morning I get an error message on the screen that says something is wrong with the hybrid system; however, the car seems to run fine and once I start driving the message goes away for the rest of the day.  My local dealer says I need a new computer for $1100.  Has anyone else had this problem and do I really need to buy a new computer?
