Question type: General

My mustang was built with no backup lights. Does this make it a 64 1/2?

Hello, Yes, there is an excellent chance that your vehicle is a 64 1/2, as the option for reverse lights was not added until 1965. Enjoy your Mustang! CarGrrl

carGrrl, I own a 1964 1/2 mustang that has back up lights and the original sticker for the car shows that the original owner who ordered the car not only received special discounts but on the actual copy 2 of the sticker (Dealers Delivery Copy), it shows on line #13 Backup Lights - $10.70. My mustang was also born quite early being its order date of 4-20-64 and a production date of 4-21-64 with delivery on 4-28-64. Now what you say? Scott

That's my birthday...I had a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible GT with fog lights and no reverse lights. Bright red! 4-speed manual. Looking for another one!

Backup lights were optional until 1966. This is not the way to authenticate a 64 1/2 car.
