Why would my 1999 Toyota Avalon shut down while driving

It made a humming noise and the check engine light went on

Car would not start after it shut down so I had it towed home then waited a couple days try to started again engine would not turn over just the lights on the dash let up and when I turn the key I heard a clicking noise

Check engine light came on so there is a code or codes, so scan it for codes set, then check all possible reasons that code would set before buying parts.

Also before clearing any codes, remember it is not running at the moment so write down all codes before erasing codes.

Found out it was super low on oil was told by a friend that probably blew up the engine it probably froze up ?

No it most likely not froze up as the system can shut down when low oil is detected so add the needed oil and erase the code to reset the Computer.
