oh man, I hate that! on your back under a dash, sweatin' and swearin' did you match up the old one and the new one and make sure they are identical? everything on the new one should be EXACTLY like everything on the old one- if it is the same, then the problem is with your installation- take a deep breath, have a cup of coffee, and think- is something in the way, or out of alignment, under your dash?
