Sounds like a pollution control part the runs to your charcoal canister. No clue what it's called. If you live next to a salvage yard, I would go there and see if I could locate the same part. Or remove it and throw it on the counter at the local Toyota parts dealer. They should be able to bring up a schematic and at least tell you what it's called.

Reelin68 is very likely right on. It's a vacuum hose that purges the EVAP canister he is talking about, the vacuum source being at the base of Throttle Body at intake plenum. Toyota has not put a carburetor on a Corolla since 1991 though, it's a throttle body but very much resembles a carburetor. Does it have the 1.6Liter 4A FE..or a DX with 1.8L 7A FE? Or maybe even something else like the 22E? If I knew which I can pull up a picture, maybe you can point it out.

I made these as big as possible and keep at least some resolution. They are a bit hard to follow..a shot-in-the-dark....... click to size up
