1953 235 six cylinder

Asked by Evergreen Sep 04, 2012 at 05:49 PM about the 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck quit on  while driving.
Towed it home, pulled the plugs , they were covered in black soot.
Cleaned plugs and it started right up. Ran for  5 minutes and shut it off.
When I pulled the plugs they were covered in soot again.
What could be causing this? The carb on this truck does not seem to have a gas to air adjustment.
