Just would like to know if I'm supposed to drive with the over drive button pushed in or not... please help?

Asked by lumina82 May 22, 2007 at 06:17 AM about the 1988 Toyota Camry

Question type: General

Not sure what trim it is but its a 3 speed auto with overdrive. Just don't know whether the overdrive should be pushed in or not. Seems to chew fuel really bad. When I get to above 80 kms / hr if I push the overdrive in, it feels like it goes into a 4th gear. Please help?

Drive with it on. I think when you push the button a light on the dash should come on and say "O/D off." I think you want it on.
