Possible clunking noise in front of 1988 camry

I just purchased an 88 Camry, the heat
shield I believe is making a very loud
banging noise when I'm in drive but
stopped, say at a stop light, I haven't
checked to be sure that's what it is, but
today I just started to hear what sounds
like a clunking noise in the front passenger
side of the vehicle while driving. What
might this be? I'm just hoping it isn't
expensive, or that I could learn how to fix it
myself. Yes, the car has around 240k miles
on it.

Yes indeed. Tom is correct. Don't forget to inspect those CV Joints/Boots on the drive shafts. BTW...what Engine is in this vehicle?
