At what temperature should the cooling fan kick on in a 1993 corvette?

i think the car is running too hot when idling in traffic. Other cars seem to stay at 180.it has been going up to 230 at times( 1993) convertible

C4 Corvette's do run hotter than most cars. 230 degrees is about the limit and the fan should be running at this point. Mine would reach 230 at red lights in the summer, but cool down to about 220 once I get moving.

Make sure you single fan is running w/o AC. If the A/C is on, both fans should be running. Make sure you have the proper amount of coolant, and there is not a science fair of bugs and butter flies clogging the radiator.
