changing the fuel filter on an '82?

The fuel filter is usually in-line or in-tank. If it's in-line you should be able to follow the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine and find a cannister along the way. If it's in-tank you will not find a cannister and the fuel tank will have to be drained and removed. Replacing an in-tank fuel filter is not a task for the weekend warrior.

the fuel filter is right beside the starter. on the drivers side. it is not easy to change. you have to raise the car and put it on jack stands. it has to be changed from underneath. there is a haynes manual. #92050. it covers 1978 to 1982. very helpful. worth a lot more than the $20 it costs.
