1985 MR2 engines dies after 40 minutes. Will not restart until it cools down some. Doesn't seem to be vapor locking because I'm running the engine compartment cooling fan all the time and it will happen on cool days as well as hot.
Car dies after 40-45 minutes. Began about a year ago on a hot summer day. As long
as car is moving at a constant rate, it seems to be fine. When I slow down or come to
a stop after the 40 minutes or so, the engine dies and won't restart until it cools a bit
(maybe 20-30 minutes). Thought it may be vapor locking, so I disconnected the engine
compartment cooling fan sensor which causes the cooling fan to fail ON. Suspect coil,
distributor or igniter failing as electrical components heat up internally. Any other
ideas?
