The air idle control valve needle and seat are gunked up. Remove the steel fuel line. Remove the throttle body. Mark and remove the water and vacuum hose(s). Gently remove the end plate on the air idle control valve. The removal of the needle seat requires a special tool but, a large screwdriver will work. It might take some gentle back and forth pressure to get the seat free. Remove the spring and needle. Clean thoroughly with solvent(seat threads with a brush). In case your tags fell off, the hose coming out from behind the thermostat goes to the rear of the valve. In the case of a stick trans, it does not matter as to the position of the vacuum lines.Reassembly with new throttle body gasket(available at any parts store) and torque throttle body and fuel line to factory specs.
