If your question is the value on your 1977 Corvette, it depends on a lot of variables. Since this was a high production year of almost 50,000 Corvettes made, the market is flooded with this year Corvette. The majority had the 190 HP automatic. About 2000 came with a manual 220 HP engine. Yours is devalued because of the high mileage, and in need of tires, body work and paint. The interior at this point is old and tired, need to be replaced. To fix up the car would cost more than the car is really worth for resale. Rebuilding the engine alone is near $5000 for a good reliable job. Brakes, interior and body repair and paint, even a cheep paint job, will run another $5000 easily. The demand is low because of the smog attachments and low power output. In what you are giving us, I'd say a $3500 offer is a good one. Top condition with very low mileage and no mechanical issues is going for only $13,000 to those that want a 1977 Vette.

If you really like it and want to keep it, consider fixing it up a little at a time and modernizing it. These models that were so low on power and had suck driveability problems because of their smog systems and lousey carureted induction really benefit from late model engine swaps. These days, properly done Vette-Rod, non original Vettes are getting more than their stock counterparts at auction, especially these years. No longer is it true that you "gotta keep it original". If you are trying to get rid of it, just take what you can get for it.

Each year the value of Corvettes goes up. When new production models come out, all decrease in value for a little bit, then continue to rise. He could drop ten grand into the car and have a fine ride. He has to be careful and not get the glitter stuff that is not necessary. A good crate turn key engine, tranny overhaul, maybe a prep it yourself on the paint job will cut costs, tires are really not expensive, TA Radials are a good tire and don't cost but $400 for the entire car. Aftermarket seats are $800 for a good pair, interior is about $250 put in if needed. Fix it up, drive it and enjoy it. Add more as you go later. Rims, more engine goodies, as long as he likes it, who cares? Most gear heads would give their billfold pocket to have any Corvette.

well, took me 30 yrs to get a vette. just picked up a 77. awesome body and paint, 56k miles. engine has been reworked w/z28 hot cam and heads. has header side pipes and runs great. down side, 40 yr old car, needs some suspension tlc. I,ll do this over the winter. but what a sweet ride.

dond55, Enjoy your C-3 Corvette. Yes is is 40 years old, but it still gets looks... Cost or maintaining a 40 year old car, far less than a 40 year old wife I'll tell yea. Both need tender care, one can be road hard and ask for more.
