It depends on your plans for the car. If you are keeping it forever, change the motor to what you want and can afford. Old cars with matching numbers have a higher resale value. You could keep the OEM motor and tranny to rebuild and sell with the car.

your car appears to be in good condition,rebuild current engine,numbers matching older cars are worth more on resale side, but crate engines are not that much more dollar wise.

if you decide to go with a different engine save the original. You can easily fit a nice big block in that car .they used to come with 402 s in them stock. nice car.
