How can I find out if a 1981 vette is #1 of 6 made? the car has been garage kept owner claims paint is original. on right rear bumper it says (Experimental 350/475) on front fender it has the boe tie with NOS on it and say's special edition. owner claims it came from factory with NOS. car is in show room condition and I can get it for $20,000 how can I verify all this and what is this car worth?

You can get a copy of the original build sheet if built in Bowling Green from The National Corvette Museum. It is extremely unlikely the car would come with nitrous oxide from the factory. I'm pretty sure the 1981 didn't have any fender badges either, just the Corvette one on the hood. You should contact a Corvette specialist and have them check it out.
the vin # 1g1ay8761bs419061 shows it was built in Stlouis Mo. it was her late husbands car and she claims it is #1of6 and all original. if not 1of6 experimental vette, I think it is well worth $20,000 anyway. it is very clean. and runs great, not a flaw on it anywere. her late husband had it as a show car. I tryed to upload a pic of it but my pics wont upload for some reason.
There are tons of those c3 corvettes out there that can be had for much less then $20k. For that money you could get one with 20,000 original miles in perfect shape.
I think her late husband has modified this car to make it a show car. it has 28,000mi. a really nice car. but the vin# dose not show that it is #1 of 6 made. the vin # 1g1ay8761bs419061 Im going to hold out for a c3 all original. I think her late husband/or the person he got it from was pulling her leg.
40,606 made that year.. http://www.idavette.net/facts/81.htm
