Question type: General

I have a 77 Monte with about 75,000 original miles that I bought in 97. When I bought it it
only had 19,767 original miles. (Obviously I just love to drive it.) It is silver with black interior,
black landau top, 350 4bbl. I was just curious since it was built 7/77 what how many were
built and what # mine is.

the last 6 digits of the VIN is the production number. there were well over a hundred thousand of these cars on the road in 77, far from rare. 55000 miles is not really a lot of driving in 15 years. I doubt if it was built in july of 77 since the model year starts in june of 76 .

The sticker on the door jam says 7/77 and so does the original window sticker.

are you sure it's not a 78? that just doesn't sound right. If you notice on TV & radio most of the car ads are for clearence sales to make room for the 2013 models. Do you have a picture of the car . in 78 the monte carlo was smaller , in july of 77 they would have been building 78 montes . the year was already over for 77s.

It is.definately a 77. It was manufactured in Canada. The original owner had a choice of either a 77 or 78 and she ordered a 77. It has a landau top, rally wheels, sport mirrors, 350 4bbl, with bench seats and column shift.

oh canadian thats why ! the American version wouldn't have come with a 350, 305 was standard for that year. I know canadian cars were a bit different.

The standard engine was a 305 but the 350 4bbl was available as an option, at an extra price (of course). I bought it in 97 with 19,767 original miles on it from the original owner's son. She had passed away and nobody in the family wanted it.

wow not bad . it was like new , thats barely broken in at 20000 miles, nice. at least you enjoy & have fun with it ,that the main thing . I had a 75 in the 80s silver with a landau roof and blue interior & those rubber rims. real nice cruising car. the montes and the grand prix of the 70s were awesome on the highways .
