What was the standard engine package? How to identify the LT-1?

Asked by daryldogs Jan 05, 2007 at 08:22 AM about the 1972 Chevrolet Corvette

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am looking at a 1972 Vette at a local dealer.  The car has a 350 with a 4spd.  How can I tell if it indeed is a LT-1 option.  Also, checking for numbers matching.  The Odometer reads 62K.  The asking price is $18,900.  The car is in excellent shape, but this seems a little high to me.  Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Darren

Hello, Here is some information on deciphering the VIN. If I were you, I'd print it out and take it with me. http://www.idavette.net/facts/72.htm Actually, according to Manheim Goldbook, that is an outstanding price for a 1972 Corvette. I'm not sure if you have a convertible or T-Top, but either way, go here and check it out: http://www.manheimgold.com/car_lo.html Corvettes aren't under "Chevrolet," by the way. They're under "Chevrolet-Corvette." Best of luck! CarGrrl

If it is a LT-1 that is cheap!!!!A LT-1 has solid lifters. If it is a LT-1 with air you are stealing because they only made about 240 of these with air cond. The CORVETTE BLACK BOOK gives a lot of details about these and you can get this at any book store.
