decoding vin

At first I thought that your VIN lacked a few digits, but then I remembered that it wasn't until 1981 that all cars were required to have a 17 digit VIN. So, modern VIN decoders only said "error" when we gave them your 13 digits. A little research, however, and I got the answer from a little known but very rich site for information on older Cheverolet Corvettes. You might want to check it out at www.100megsfree4.com/corvette/1970/vet74.htm. And for you the answer is: 1= Chevrolet. Z= Corvette. 37= coupe. J= 350c.i.d V-8, 195 h.p., 4 barrel. 4= 1974. S= built in St. Louis. The last six numbers indicate production sequence. Good luck from bovan.
As for options you are going to have to drop the gas tank, unless you happen to have the original paperwork which states them. The Vin number states (J CODE Standard 195hp V8). This car is a 1974 model as stated in VIN (4S4) First letter states year.
