My 97 Chevy suburban won't go into reverse and when in drive it will not shift unless I let off the gas at the right moment. Is it repairable or do I need to replace it?

you are going to need to replace it if its not just the shift cable that leads to the transmission from under the steering column. but if it is just your transmission its cheaper to get it rebuilt.
