i want to know what the engine size should be in my 1978 f-150 custom

You can use carfax.com or autocheck.com to enter your vin and it should give you a list of the specs for your vehicle.

You should have an engine code number on the door plate. Then google for that year model. It should either be a 302,351,400 or 460 if it is an 8.

look at the vin #...the 4th one (after F15x....) That letter will be your engine code (J being 460..i know there's a second one in 79 for 460 as well...but google the engine code and you'll find out what it should be)
