Towing Capacity

look on plate on driver door,it will say its towing capacity.
or you can use common sense, F-150 means it can haul up to a half ton before the weight messes with the ride hieght and handling of the truck
If memory serves...stock light duty f150 can tow up to 5000lbs with a tongue weight of 500lbs. I've seen them with aftermarket equipment tow up to 12000 but I wouldn't suggest it.
the 1982 F-150 can tow up to 8,500lbs im sure you could get a few more in there if you were carefull just make sure your trucks in good enough shape to do it
maybe you should do a little research before you throw your common sense at people
I knew the haulage just wasn't sure of the towing two different things
well if your wanting to know how much you can pull with a half ton, it pretty much varies, now i dont exactly know how much for each set up, but it depends on what motor and transmission set up you have, how well does the motor run, little things like that, and since you have an 82, you most likely have the inline six or 400 (350-m, -w, or -c) most half ton trucks can pull anything, not very fast, but with my half ton, ive pulled trailer houses, semis, dump trucks, and other pick ups with out any problems, but speed will be the only issue
I thought that was its towing capacity. So i can tell this idiot that he cant haul 19 tons at 55 mph with 15mpg with an 82 F 150? lol its what this guy said. haha
How much weight can I pull on a trailer and with how much weight on the bed my 89. F150 5 speed?

The factory towing capacity for a early 90s F series is 6250 lb if it came from Factory with the towing package. It's easy to tell if it has the towing package just look under the rear bumper and see if it has the factory 6 pin trailer plug. you have to understand that when these trucks were rated they were running 5w 30 motor oil with a tiny transmission intercooler, 3.55 gears and Sissy 235/75 Tires. Upgrade to 10w40 oil, 11"x 15" transmission intercooler, 3.73 rear gears and 31"-10.50 LT tires. you'll have no problem Towing 8000 pounds at 55mph. (With a receiver hitch) I drive a 1993 f150 supercab with the 300 inline six using this particular combo everyday.
I tend to agree with Kelly. I have a 1987 F150 300 six Granny 4 speed 4x4. Depends on the driver.
I would also agree with him that is exactly what my door sticker says. But just to be clear if my gvw is 3150 and my tow rating is 6250 does that mean on legal terms your are legal to tow 3125 pounds? I know for a fact that I could tow anything I wanted , hell 8ve towed a 70 mobile home before with a 300inline ,. But my question is about the numbers and legally.

I have a f150, 2011, eco boost, 100,000 miles, original owner, have all maintenance records, garage kept, runs great. I want to travel and pull a 2 horse gooseneck trailer. I was thinking of trading it for a 2021 f150, should I stick with mr present truck or go with the newer one.

There is no one answer people. I found a 2018 F1150 with a tow capacity of 10,000lbs that I use to tow my tow-hauler. The Raptors are not good towers, they tend to have capacities between 6000-7000lbs. Most 8-cylinder F150's can tow between 6000-10000 lbs. So you have to do your research, best by VIN number.
