how can i tell what size engine is in my 1986 ford f150 lariat with double tanks

just going off the year, the fact it is a 1/2 ton, long bed doesnt matter, you most likely have a 351-M, but it could also be a 460 too, im not too big of a fan on the 80's style fords cuz they didnt have too much to offer, but from the few that i have owned they all had 351-Ms in them, i dont think they had very many motor options for the half tons

In 1986 in a full size Ford, it could have been the 300 straight 6, a 302 or a 351 Windsor engine. The straight six will be easily identified while the 302/351's will be a little tuffer to distinguish. Im not sure how original the truck is but the 351 trucks had dual exhaust pipes on the same side. The VIN will also tell you this info.
