your in luck. i have an 87 XLT Lariat 4x4 ext. cab long bed. what specifically are you wanting to know? drive train? repair? body work?
want to primarily know what the dual fuel tank capacity is for each tank and, the fuel milage
okay the stock tank for the rear was 19 gallons and i think the front one is 15 or 16. the factory MPG varies from the engines available that year. if its the 351w then it would be 10-12, the 302 would have about 12-14 and the 300 would have 15-17. this also depends on the transmission it has. a manual trans would give better fuel mileage while the auto does not. im guessing you have the 351w with a 4 barrel carb and a C6 3 speed auto so your mileage is gonna be the 10-12 unless you either switch to fuel injection, manual shift or both. if you switch to both you might be able to get up to 16 hwy but im not promising nothin. plus thats a very expensive and hard conversion so your best bet is not to take it anywhere far unless you have deep pockets.
just let me know if you need to know anything else. if its something im not quite sure about, i can consult my dad, who has lots of experience with ford vehicles since his 1972 Gran Torino, or my uncle who is a Ford mechanic.
I just got an 88 XLT Lariat Supercab 4X4 Auto Trans with owners manual- it lists only one wheelbase, 155". Front tank = 19.0 gals, rear tank = 18.2 gals. Standard engine is 5.8L with EFI.
