I have a 1974 f250 ranger xlt about 2 or 3 weeks ago i was taking it to the store stopped and the rpms at an idle that i could not hear my truck anymore went to take it to my parents and it started dying doing 55 on the highway it even backfired we thought it was a fuel issue we checked all the filters even swaped carbs and it still did it need help

If you have not done so, do a full tuneup - points, cap, rotor, plugs and wires and then set the timing. Check for vacuum leaks and maybe do a compression test as well. Use a good fuel system cleaner like Seafoam while you are at it.
