How to get more power from 89 F-250- 302 fuel injection

Asked by rlrm Jan 22, 2013 at 01:01 AM about the 1989 Ford F-250

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The motor has new plugs, wires, cap rotor, air filter. Has just been timed. Does not seem to have acceleration under load but free revs fine

Ok. That engine, the 302, is one of the best engines Ford, or anybody else for that matter, ever put out. The 289, 302, and even the 351 Windsor all have the same piston, a big one..4" the difference is in the crank and rods.. You seem to have done all the right things, but your definition of 'power under load' may be different from mine. To get more hp from an engine that already runs well or fix something that is causing it to not produce what it should are two very different things...we have to decide which it is. Does it misfire? Any information you can come back with will help me help you I know these engines.
