Well, to answer your question would depend on what engine was in the vehicle. Standard engine choice for a 1973 Ford Country Squire was a 2BBl 400 cubic inch 335 engine class Clevland engine family from Ford. CODE (S) Optional Engines were the 390 Code (Y) 302 Code (F) 351 Windsor 2V (H) code, 351 Cleveland 2V/4V(Q)code. 429 2v (C) code. 429 (N)4V, and the 460 4V (A) code. 460 4V (P) code = Police Interceptor. 85% of all Country Squires came standard with the(S) 400 2V. A-typical fuel milage for the 400 2v ranged between 15-17 highway, and 10-14 mpg city on Regular leaded fuel @ 55 mph. Not too shabby for a station wagon that weighed in at over 4800lbs. Not including passengers. Average actual fuel milage was more like 8-10 MPG City, 12-14MPG highway. Interesting to note here that the larger displacement 429/460 engine did as well or better in fuel consumption.
